Mel B’s estranged husband, Stephen Belafonte, recently accused the former Spice Girls member of having an affair with Simon Cowell.

Mel B and Cowell have been working together on “The X Factor” for the past couple of years, and they share a close bond with each other, as well as fellow judges Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum. But a source recently told The Sun (via Metro) that Belafonte and Mel B have been feuding over Cowell since 2014. At the time, the singer failed to attend two of the three live shows for Season 11 of the hit U.K. reality TV competition.

When she returned to “The X Factor,” Mel B appeared to have bruises all over her body and face. She was also spotted without her wedding ring that night. However, Mel B never said anything about Belafonte physically hurting her until she filed for divorce from him a few weeks ago.

“Stephen’s jealousy at that point was causing massive problems in the marriage – and he was convinced something was going on between her and Simon. He did not like the fact that Mel obviously looked up to him and spoke about him a lot… It’s definitely one of the things that led to the eventual breakdown of their relationship,” the source said.

As of late, Mel B has not yet commented on Belafonte’s allegations, but supporting her through her divorce is Cowell himself. While speaking with the same publication last week, the music producer said that he thinks Mel B is in a good place at the moment.

“If you think about what Mel’s done since leaving the Spice Girls and what she’s gone through, how hard she works and how I saw her try to handle the situation, it was astonishing. Yes, she’s under pressure, but she’s in a good place,” he said.
