In a series of postings from mid to late February on 51Jobs.com (the Monster.com of China), VanceInfo Technologies Inc. (NYSE: VIT) has advertised numerous positions for onsite assignments at Yahoo China.

VanceInfo is an information technology (IT) service provider and an offshore software development company in China.

VanceInfo Yahoo contracts also appear at Zhaopin.com. Most require C++ or Java related skills, and each assignment is listed as multiple, (so maybe a total of 25-50 engineers).

Recall that Yahoo has a number of operating and investment interests in China. Yahoo owns a 40 percent stake in Alibaba Group, which in turn has numerous subsidiaries including the Yahoo China portal.

We have not been able to confirm which Yahoo interest(s) VIT has won, though the postings reference multiple Yahoo teams, Susquehanna Financial analyst James Friedman said in a note to clients.

VanceInfo generates roughly 50 percent of its revenue from tech clients, generally software, hardware, and networking related. Internet would be a relatively new opportunity for the company, Friedman said.

ADR's of VanceInfo closed Thursday's session at $30.15.
