Did Jay-Z diss Miley Cyrus? Tumblr

Jay-Z’s highly anticipated album “Magna Carta Holy Grail” is causing Miley Cyrus fans to react, after the 43-year-old rapper wrote lyrics about the young artist. On his song, “Somewhere in America,” Jay-Z raps, "When I was talking Instagram, Last thing you wanted was your picture snapped/Feds still lurking, They see I'm still putting work in/Cause somewhere in America, Miley Cyrus is still twerkin', HA [sic]!"

The entrepreneur was then asked by a fan during a Twitter Q & A, “You really think Miley Cyrus still twerking somewhere in America?” Jay responded, "Yes! she represents an old worlds worst nightmare [sic]."

Twerking is a dance move that has recently become popular in music videos and involves a person gyrating their hips. Twenty-year-old Cyrus joined the dance craze in the past few months, and a video of her twerking while wearing a unicorn suit went viral in March. She then created her own twerk team and showed off the dance yet again in her latest hit video, “We Can’t Stop.”

While some fans thought describing Cyrus as “an old world’s worst nightmare” was negative, Cyrus clearly saw it as a compliment. She took to Twitter and wrote, "Call it what you want. But I don't see Mr. Carter shoutin any of you bi--hes out.#twerkmileytwerk [sic].” Jay-Z even retweeted her comment. She then continued, “"Exactly right. I am an old worlds worst nightmare. #outwiththeold #inwiththenewnew [sic]."

Meanwhile, “Magna Carta Holy Grail,” Jay-Z’s 12th album, is projected to sell 350,000-400,000 copies by July 14, even though the rapper gave a million copies away July 4.
