Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant and his fiancée, WNBA star Monica Wright, may be taking a break from their relationship, according to a report.

Durant and Wright, each of whom were selected second overall picks in their respective leagues’ drafts, became engaged in July, Media Take Out was first to report. However, the site now claims to have gotten “confirmation” that the basketball-playing couple has decided to go on a break, noting that Wright has not been wearing her engagement ring in public.

A report by Jocks and Stiletto Jill, a gossip blog, lends additional evidence to the rumor. The site notes that Wright has not worn her engagement ring in recent Instagram photos. In addition, Wright and Durant reportedly did not spend Christmas or New Year’s Eve together; an Instagram photo revealed that Durant spent New Year’s Eve with friends.

Furthermore, Wright has posted several cryptic messages to her Instagram account in recent weeks. On Jan. 2, she posted a Bible verse that could be construed as a reference to relationship trouble. “Forget the former things; do not dwell in the past,” the verse said.

Two days later, Wright used her own words in a more overt message. “I can lie to myself all day and night about something but it ain’t long before God reveals the truth and…let’s be real…IT DON’T BE PRETTY! [sic]” she wrote.

Neither Durant nor Wright has directly addressed the rumors regarding their alleged time apart but Media Take Out claims that the couple did not break up; in fact, they still hope to salvage their relationship.

The rumors of relationship trouble surfaced just weeks after Wright abruptly left KEB-Hana Bank, a team for which she had been playing in Korea. At the time, The Korea Times reported that she had returned to the United States due to a family emergency.
