Marital lines apparently got blurred, and now singer Robin Thicke and his wife of eight years, Paula Patton, have separated. Many wonder if the couple has decided to go their own ways because of infidelity on Thicke’s part.

"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," the couple told People on Monday in an exclusive statement. They met when Thicke, son of actor Alan Thicke, was 14 and Patton was 16. In 2005 they were married and in April 2010, their son Julian Fuego Thicke was born.

Before their marriage became publicly rocky, the 36-year-old singer said of his marriage to the 38-year-old actress in a November interview with Elle magazine. "We're pretty sure we've loved each other for a few lives.”

As their statement reveals, the couple seems to be on good terms, with Patton looking happy as she accompanied him to the 2014 Grammy Awards on Jan. 26. But it seems to the rumors of cheating were too much for the couple to bear.

Less than a week before the music event, Thicke was photographed getting very touchy-feely with a curly-haired woman in Paris nightclub Club 79 West. Though he wasn’t caught kissing the clubgoer, he was seen getting up close and personal with her, Radar Online reported.

And it’s not the only time Thicke’s been caught in a compromising position. After his much-talked-about performance with Miley Cyrus at the MTV Movie Awards in August, a picture showed what looked like the debonair singer grabbing the behind of a fan.

“My only comment about the so-called scandalous photo would be that my wife and I are perfectly in love and very happily married, so, no complaints there,” he told Star magazine. He added he had, “The most functional dysfunctional marriage in Hollywood.”
