Novak Djokovic opened his 2011 French Open with a bang, soundly defeating overmatched opponent 6-2, 6-1, 6-3 Thiemo De Bakker on Monday. Djokovic's 38th straight win was impressive, and perhaps an indicator of his form as he prepares for a probable final with Rafael Nadal.

Nadal, also known as the King of Clay, has dominated at the French Open, only losing once at Rolland Garros.

Djokovic has not gone past the semi-finals.

However, Djokovic's dominating defeat of Nadal at the red clay courts of the Rome Masters, has fueled speculation that Djokovic can get past Nadal in Paris.

Djokovic looked at ease with all aspects of his game yesterday dispatching De Bakker with the same ease he has through his unstoppable streak.

Djokovic, who also celebrated his 24th birthday said, It was a great first match for me at Roland Garros.'

The path ahead for Djokovic could be rough with some likely top players before a potential match-up with Nadal.

If Djokovic and Nadal both do make the finals, can Djokovic beat Nadal?
