BBC released the first teaser video for “Doctor Who” Season 8 Friday with a glimpse of the 12th incarnation of the Doctor in action.

The 15-second video teases the silhouette of Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, in what looks to be the TARDIS, flashing against a backdrop of what might be an explosion -- while giving away absolutely nothing. The words “The New Doctor Lands” appears before announcing that the new series will air this August.

Capaldi made his “Doctor Who” debut in "The Day of The Doctor" before taking on the role full-time following Matt Smith's final appearance in the 2013 Christmas special "The Time of The Doctor."

"Being asked to play the Doctor is an amazing privilege," Capaldi reportedly said in August 2013. "Like the Doctor himself, I find myself in a state of utter terror and delight. It's so wonderful not to keep this secret any longer, but it's been so fantastic."

In January, the look of the new Doctor was unveiled featuring him wearing a dark blue Crombie coat with red lining, dark blue trousers, a white shirt and black Dr. Martens shoes.

Capaldi commented about his costume, saying at the time: “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 percent Rebel Time Lord.”

“Sherlock” actor Benedict Cumberbatch told Big Issue magazine that he was a fan of Capaldi. “I am very excited to see him in Doctor Who. He is a class act, Peter, and a great actor.”
