“Nasty” singer Janet Jackson was forced to give up her alleged daughter, ex-husband James DeBarge claimed. The star faced accusations she placed a baby for adoption after Tiffany Whyte asserted she was the rumored love child of Jackson and DeBarge.

“When you’re young, it’s easy to be persuaded and to do things you may not even want to do…” DeBarge told Radar Online in an exclusive interview Friday. “I’m not sure, but I think it was the pressure, the fame,” he said about Jackson giving up the rumored daughter.

DeBarge is slated to take a DNA test next month to prove he is Whyte’s father. He and Jackson eloped in 1984 and divorced the following year.

As rumors about Jackson continued to swirl, there was another person who came forward: her former sister-in-law, Bunny DeBarge. The gossip “haunted the family a long time,” she told Inside Edition Friday.

“When the marriage was annulled... Janet was pregnant and James believed that as well,” Bunny DeBarge said. “I think we all believe that James and Janet had a child.”

But she doesn’t think that person is Whyte, a 31-year-old woman from Philadelphia. Bunny DeBarge accused Whye of being a fame seeker, noting she doesn’t resemble Jackson or DeBarge.

The rumor flared up after Bunny and James’ mother, Etterlene, took a DNA test with Whyte. The results were positive and she went public with the results. “I’m like, ‘Mom, maybe she’s some kin to you but she's not James and Janet’s daughter. Come on now,” she said.

Bunny DeBarge was disappointed with how her mother handled the results. “I would apologize to Janet and tell her as a family we would not have done it like that,” she told Inside Edition.

Whyte denied she wanted money or fame. “I don't want to get famous off of this. Trust me, I don't,” Whyte told Radar Online Tuesday. “I just want my mother. I want my father.”

Jackson, 50, never publicly commented on rumors about a love child. She welcomed a son, Eissa, with her husband, Qatari businessman Wissam Al Mana, Jan. 3.
