Dole Food Co. issued a recall on 756 cases of pre-packaged bagged salad, which could possibly be contaminated with salmonella, the company said on Saturday.

The recall includes bagged Seven Lettuces salads distributed in 15 states: Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin, according to the FDA.

According to Dole, a sample of the Seven Lettuces salad bags tested in New York came back positive for salmonella. Recalled bags have a use-by date of April 11, 2012, UPC code 71430 01057 located on the barcode of the package and product codes 0577N089112A and 0577N089112B located on the upper-right part of the bag.

So far, no illnesses or death have been reported because of the recall. Dole said that the only bags affected are the Seven Lettuces and no other Dole salads are included in the recall.

Dole is working with regulatory offices and retailers to remove the bags from shelves. According to the California-based company, consumers should throw away the recalled bags as salmonella can be life-threatening.
