The US dollar extended its recent uptrend against the currencies of the UK, Europe and Switzerland in early New York trading on Tuesday.

The greenback advanced to a 5-day high of 1.3479 against the euro by 9:15 am Eastern Time, compared to yesterday's North American closing value of 1.3634. The euro-buck pair is presently trading near 1.35.

The dollar also advanced to 1.465 against the pound and 1.1321 versus the Swiss franc by this time, from previous lows of 1.4781 and 1.1212, respectively. As of 9:20 am E.T, the dollar was worth near 1.13 versus the franc and 1.468 against the pound.
