The greenback extended its recent downtrend against its major opponents in early New York trading on Monday. The dollar dropped to a 5-day low of 1.1428 against the Swiss franc by 8:40 am ET, compared to 1.1563 hit late New York on Thursday.

The greenback also declined further to 1.3303 against the euro, 1.4769 against the pound and 100.35 versus the Japanese yen by this time. This may be compared to Thursday's New York session closing values of 1.317, 1.4682 and 100.43, respectively.

The next downside target levels for the buck are seen around 1.14 against the franc, 1.333 versus the euro, 99.3 against the yen and 1.485 versus the euro.
