During New York trading on Thursday, the US dollar ticked down against the Brazilian real. The greenback slid to a fresh multi-month low of 2.2200 versus the real by about 8:15 am ET, which may be compared to Wednesday's closing value of 2.2405. Thereafter, the pair moved up slightly and as of now worth 2.2355.

The Brazilian national statistic agency said today that unemployment rate climbed to its 10-month high of 8.5 percent in February from 8.2 percent in the previous month.
