In a recent television interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Donald Trump said that he will sue Bill Maher if the HBO host does not pay the $5 million he wagered when asking the real estate mogul to release his birth certificate.

Earlier this week, while on the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” Maher took a stab at Trump, mocking his offer to President Barack Obama prior to the November election to release his birth certificate in exchange for $5 million donated to the charity of the president’s choice.

After having a laugh at Trump’s expense, Maher then offered to donate $5 million to the charity of Trump’s choice if he would release his own birth certificate. According to Maher, the certificate would prove whether Trump is the “spawn of his mother having sex with orangutan …”

Taking the offer quite seriously, Trump responded by sending a copy of his birth certificate, along with instructions for the money promised, to Maher’s office. Here's the letter was obtained by Yahoo News:

“Attached hereto is a copy of Mr. Trump's birth certificate, demonstrating that he is the son of Fred Trump, not an orangutan. Please remit the $5 million to Mr. Trump immediately and he will ensure that the money be donated to the following five charities in equal amounts: Hurricane Sandy Victims, The Police Athletic League, The American Cancer Society, The March of Dimes, and The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.”

While Maher said on the show that he was “not looking for a feud with Donald Trump,” a legal fight is just what he might get.

In an interview with Hannity, Trump explained how he has a very solid case against the “Bill Maher Show,” host if he does not cough up the $5 million that was promised.

“He made an offer on the show and that involved my birth certificate and other thing. And, it was a five million dollar offer to charity. And I immediately accepted his offer. Sent a legal letter to him by a very good lawyer who told me you have a very good case as soon as you accept his offer. And so we eventually sent him a bill. A legal representation for five million dollars. So he has to pay. I don’t know if he has five million dollars. Maybe he doesn’t. But he made an offer of five million. I accepted that offer and all of that money will go to great charities.”

Hannity responded by asking the question that everybody has been wondering the answer to. “And if he doesn’t pay?”

“Then I will sue him,” Trump answered.

Celebrity Net Worth estimated Maher’s personal fortune is at about $23 million.
