U.S. stocks regained some ground on Monday, helped by advances in companies that report quarterly results this week, including International Business Machines , which reports after the market's close.

* Markets have seesawed through much of the day as worries over a fraud case against Goldman Sachs weighed.

* The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> rose 37.49 points, or 0.34 percent, to 11,056.15. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> added 0.17 point, or 0.01 percent, to 1,192.30. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was off 13.00 points, or 0.52 percent, to 2,468.26.
