The Tomorrow People
“The Tomorrow People” premieres on the CW Oct. 9. CW

Cousin Matthew has found new life! The death of Dan Stevens' “Downton Abbey” character is still a fresh loss for some, but fans of the English actor will be happy to learn that he’ll be back on TV this fall. Stevens is the latest star to join the new CW series “The Tomorrow People.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, Stevens will be featured on the series from “Vampire Diaries” executive producer Julie Plec … but you’ll have a hard time finding him on screen. Turns out that Stevens won’t be physically on the CW show, but instead just lending his voice. The actor will be the voice behind biological computer TIM, “’The Tomorrow People’s’ artificially intelligent mentor.”

“The Tomorrow People” was a British TV series that ran between 1973 and 1979 on ITV. Over the past few years it has received a couple reboots with the latest being the CW’s fall 2013 version. TIM first appeared in the '70s version of the series in the episode “The Slaves of Jedikiah,” and was initially voiced by Philip Gilbert and then Trevor Littledale.

Plec shared her excitement for Dan Stevens' casting via Twitter, where she retweeted an article from Zap2it.com and wrote: “Cousin Matthew!!!”

Stevens ended his run as Cousin Matthew on “Downton Abbey” during the season 3 Christmas episode after deciding not to renew his contract. He can be seen in the upcoming dramatic thriller “The Fifth Estate,” which is set to hit theaters in the U.S. on Oct. 18.

“The Tomorrow People” will premiere on the CW on Oct. 9. The series stars Robbie Amell, Amanda Clarke, Peyton List, Like Mitchell, Aaron Yoo and Mark Pellegrino. The CW teases that “The Tomorrow People” is about “several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution, possessing special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically. Together they work to defeat the forces of evil.”
