Draya Michele doesn’t care that some fans have lashed out at her for posting photos of her post-baby body. The former reality star has been accused of setting unrealistic standards for women, but Draya doesn’t seem like she’s going to stop sharing her progress photos anytime soon.
The former “Basketball Wives” star shared another picture of her slender frame on Sunday, flaunting her flat tummy in a one-piece swimsuit from her Mint Swim collection. The 31-year-old welcomed her second child, Jru, on April 8. “SUNDAY Swimwear:: @mintswimusa #SHESbaaaaaaaaccccckkkkkkk,” she captioned the photo.
Over the weekend she also posted a Snapchat video of her wearing a belly bandit, a post-pregnancy shape wear garment. As previously reported, the mom of two posted a video Friday showing off her toned stomach in bathroom mirror. “It’s been an official seven days,” she said. “Happy Friday everyone.”
After she was criticized for concentrating so much on slimming down, Draya took to Instagram to fire back at critics and explain why she was so eager to share her photos. “I chose to record myself after giving birth because I am proud of myself. For 8 months straight I was dedicated to my health and the health of my growing baby. I went to the gym and walked 5 miles a week,” she wrote. “ I’ve never been so focused and determined. I’m excited about my results. I would also like the credit for my hard work and leave no room for people to give credit to plastic surgery or ‘having money’ (whatever that means). I truly wanted people to be aware that I achieved these results fair and square.”
The former VH1 star isn’t the only celebrity mom under fire for posting photos of her post-baby body. Former “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” star Masika Kalysha, who gave birth to her and Fetty Wap’s daughter Khari on March 29, was also attacked for posting a photo of her flat stomach just two days after welcoming her first child.
She responded to the backlash, tweeting, “Instead of coming for us fit moms u should reevaluate ur inner insecurities & determine why u so mad… she shows her stomach I get mad.” She added in another tweet, “I took spin classes till I was 7+ months, hiked 3 days a week, Walked a mile a day in the 8th and 9th months, drank an ocean of water and ate mostly healthy… So if I wanna post my stomach 3 days after birth I will because you know why ITS FLAT AND I LIKE IT THAT WAY #SNAPBACK.”
