It may be safe to say that Apple is dominating the mobile market, especially after a recent lawsuit against Motorola. The company has just won a patent debacle against Motorola in regards to Apple's staple "slide to unlock" feature on smartphones. The Munich Regional Court in Germany ruled that the competitor smartphone supplier infringes Apple's European patent, and the decision imposes a permanent injunction against Motorola devices. Verizon will debut the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx very soon, (no date announced yet), so if you're a Verizon customer ready for an upgrade, here is how the Maxx compares to the iPhone 4S. They are both quite thin, though neither is as thin as the original Droid Razr that came out in November. Razr Maxx's thickness is one of the only differences between it and the Razr, and it's thicker because of its bigger battery. Droid Razr has a 1780 mAh battery Verizon says lasts 12.5 hours of talk time. Razr Maxx has a 3,300 mAh battery Motorola says can last up to 21.5 hours of talk time. It's a huge battery, and at Verizon's LTE speeds, it couldn't hurt. iPhone 4S isn't 4G, but that means it does okay on battery life too. It gets up to eight hours of talk time (3G) with its 1,420 mAh battery.

The other main reason iPhone 4S gets good battery life is because its screen is only 3.5-inches. Droid Razr Maxx has a 4.3-inch screen, will debut with the Android 2.3 system, and has an eight megapixel camera with 1080p video capture. iPhone 4S can also shoot 1080p video, has excellent display resolution and can access the App Store, home to over 500,000 apps.

Generally, it's hard to objectively say which phone is better when dealing with two excellent devices like these. They are both quite expensive, so they come with all the latest tech, and if you can afford them, you should go to the Verizon store and test drive both before choosing. Think of what you do with your current phone and imagine doing it with an iPhone 4S or Droid Razr Maxx. If you have an old iPhone and are upgrading, you'll likely love the iPhone 4S, and it is $100 less than Razr Maxx (for the 16 gigabyte version). If you have an older Android phone, remember the Razr Maxx will be getting the Android 4.0 update not long after it debuts, so that might be a reason to grab one. If you have a feature phone and are looking to upgrade to either of these phones, then you will not be disappointed. Tell us in the comments if you are a Verizon customer and are about to upgrade.
