Droid Razr
Droid Razr Motorola

Motorola's Droid Razr is a perfect holiday gift because it is a premium device that has gotten high marks for display quality, battery life and design. It does cost $300 on contract, however, so whomever you are gifting with the Droid Razr will be getting the most expensive device out there (64 gigabyte iPhone 4S notwithstanding). With a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, the Razr has the kinds of colors and sharp images that you would expect from a carrier's flagship device. The third reason it's a perfect gift is its eight megapixel camera with 1080p video capture. You can even take pictures right from the lock screen so you snap photos at a moment's notice. Next, Droid Razr makes a perfect gift because it runs on Verizon's 4G LTE network that can achieve 30Mbps download speeds. Whatever you are doing on the Web, LTE will make it faster and Driod Razr's dual-core 1.2 GHz processor will make it sing. Furthermore, Razr comes with 16 gigabytes of built-in storage so you can store all your photos, music and movies right on the device. If you need more storage, just pop in the microSD card for another 16 gigabytes.

Software wise, Android 4.0 couldn't get here fast enough, and when it does, Droid Razr could be one of the first smartphones to get the update. That's because the Galaxy Nexus will debut the new operating system version, and it runs on the Verizon network. That is not for sure, however, because Samsung built the Galaxy Nexus for Google, and that could mean Samsung phones get the first updates regardless of carrier. In reality, that might not apply either because there is no info about who gets the updates or when, but as one of highest profile Android devices out there, Droid Razr figures the get the update within a month or so of the Galaxy Nexus release. The next reason Droid Razr makes a perfect gift is its good battery life. No device running the LTE network gets outstanding battery life, but Razr does well enough that you won't need to live life next to a power socket. The ninth reason Razr is a perfect gift is the 960x540p resolution. It's nearly HD resolution looks great, and with a pixel density of 256 ppi, every image looks crystal clear even when viewed past a 45 degree angle. Finally, it's a great gift because it's the world's thinnest smartphone. At 7.1mm, you won't believe how Motorola crammed all that tech in there. Don't worry that it's flimsy, though, the case is reinforced with Kevlar so it's super tough. Even though you've already got 10 good reasons it's a perfect gift, it's best to head over to the Verizon store and check it out before you buy it.
