Consumer spending in the Netherlands fell 2.8% year-on-year in February, reflecting a 5.2% drop in spending on goods and a 0.8% decline in that for services, the Central Bureau of Statistics said Friday. In February, consumer spending on durable goods slipped for the fifth consecutive month.

In 2008, consumer spending rose 1.6 % from the previous year.
