Thursday, a report by the Netherlands' Central Bureau of Statistics said household spending on goods and services, adjusted for price changes, increased 0.4% annually in January. Expenditure on goods increased 0.7%, while expenditure on services remained stable.

In January, spending increased on an annual basis for natural gas, as also for food and tobacco.

However, spending fell 5.6% on durable goods, marking the largest decline in five years.
