RTTNews - Thursday, a report by the Netherlands' Central Bureau of Statistics said retail sales dropped 8.9% year-on-year in May, faster than a 2.5% fall in the preceding month. Economists expected a decline of 4%.

During the month, retail sales of food fell 3.1%, while that of non-food items declined 10.9%. Sales from petrol stations dropped 17.2%.

In the first five months of the year, retail sales dipped 5.1% compared to the same period last year.
