RTTNews - Tuesday, a report by the Netherlands' Central Bureau of Statistics said the trade surplus stood at EUR2.4 billion in April, lower than the surplus of EUR3.9 billion a year earlier.

Total exports were valued EUR24 billion, down 24% from the previous year. Total imports were valued EUR21.6 billion, representing a fall of 23% from a year earlier. At the same time, the export volume dropped 14% annually, while import volume rose 11%.

For the first four months, exports were 13% to 14% lower than a year earlier. This trend goes hand in hand with a strong decrease in production and capacity utilization in the Dutch industry, the statistical office said.
