Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is teaming up with Spike TV to produce "Rock the Troops," a variety special to support and entertain U.S. troops stationed abroad. The Rock announced the special this weekend at Spike TV's Guy's Choice Awards.

Debuting on Veterans Day 2016 and touted as a grand-scale music and entertainmetn event, "Rock the Troops" will feature live performances from headliners from music, sports, film, comedy, and more. "Rock the Troops" will be filmed at a military base overseas, although the exact location has yet to be announced.

"The Seven Bucks team and I are honored to help create this special project that is going to give back to our troops and thank them for all their dedication, bravery and sacrifice," Johnson said in press release from Spike TV. The special is the first part of a development deal between Spike TV and Seven Bucks Productions, co-founded by Johnson and Dany Garcia, to produce compelling and impactful programming.

"Our mission is to honor, inspire, and entertain in an epic way only The Rock can," Casey Patterson, "Rock the Troops" executive producer, said in the press release. "He'll bring all the heart, humor and big bad energy that the world loves him for, to this show."

Backstage at the TV Guy's Choice Awards, the "San Andreas" star told Entertainment Weekly that the genesis of this event is that he has some military vets and two Navy SEALs in his family. None of the performers have been announced; however, Johnson, who is also starring in the new HBO comedy "Ballers," indicated that he was planning on calling in favors.

"They ensure our way of life. We enjoy the freedoms we have because of the brave men and women who serve so the least we can do is give back," Johnson said. "I anticipate a lot of my friends who are celebrities in Hollywood, sports and music to be part of this epic event for our troops."

Spike TV's Guys Choice Awards will air on June 18 at 9 p.m.
