“The Maze Runner: The Death Cure” star Dylan O’Brien was involved in an accident while filming on March 18 — one that resulted in his hospitalization. But according to his co-star Giancarlo Esposito, the 24-year-old is recovering rapidly from his on-set injury.

“He’s healing very well,” Esposito told E! News during the Hollywood premiere of Disney’s “The Jungle Book.” “He got put together a couple of weeks ago … He’s a survivor.”

But initially Esposito thought O’Brien was a goner. “He got his bell rung. I would imagine many who witnessed [the accident] thought that was it …” the actor said, revealing just how serious the incident was.

However, the New York native won’t let his injuries keep him sidelined for long. Esposito dished that O’Brien will return to finish filming the action movie in May. Wes Ball, the movie’s director, confirmed O’Brien’s forthcoming return to set on Twitter.

“I am sorry for the grief this accident has caused his friends and family as well as my wonderful cast and crew,” he wrote. “It’s scary seeing your friend get hurt, but fortunately, Dylan is going to be just fine. After a few weeks of rest and recovery he will be back up and running to finish our adventure together.”

There were several conflicting reports regarding what happened to O’Brien during his on-set accident. TMZ reported that the movie star was hit by a car while Deadline claimed that O’Brien had injured himself in a fall.

“Maze Runner: The Death Cure” is set to hit theaters on Feb. 17, 2017.
