The release date of “Star Wars Battlefront 2” is just around the corner and Electronic Arts has announced new details about the upcoming game. The game will be released on Nov. 17. Then, in December, “Battlefront 2” will host events and release new content based on the upcoming movie, “The Last Jedi.”

On. Dec. 5, players of “Battlefront 2” will be able to align with the First Order or choose to fight in the Resistance. EA says that a player’s choice will be important since it will allow them to take part in special challenges. The player’s chosen faction will receive rewards if they have enough allies who have completed the special challenges.

“Your choice of faction will continue to matter. Throughout December, you'll see your chosen faction's progress reflected in-game, as you fight alongside allies from around the world to swing the tide of battle,” EA said.

On Dec. 13, “Battlefront 2” will add Finn and Captain Phasma as playable characters. Both heroes can be purchased using in-game credits during that week. Also during that week, EA will have more challenges for players to complete. The faction that is able to complete the most challenges will get a reward. EA said that that a special crate of high-powered upgrades for Finn and Phasma will be rewarded to the winning faction.

Also on Dec. 13, EA will add new locations and vehicles in “Star Wars Battlefront 2.” The planetary map Crait will be added to the online multiplayer modes. Crait will be making its first cinematic appearance on “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” Another new location will be the Starfighter Assault Map D’Qar, which fans first saw in 2015’s “The Force Awakens.”

As for new vehicles, the hero ship RZ-2 A-wing will be playable on Starfighter Assault. The new vehicle is being piloted by Tallie Lintra, a new character in “The Last Jedi” that’s being played by actress Hermione Corfield. Poe Dameron’s T-70 X-wing will also be getting an upgrade with a new ability that EA says is inspired by “The Last Jedi.

EA also revealed an additional new single-player campaign called “Battlefront 2 Resurrection.” “Battlefront 2” protagonist Iden Versio will return in “Resurrection” where it will cover the rise of the First Order. The new single-player story mode will be available for free on Dec. 13.

“We’re excited for you to get your hands on ‘Star Wars Battlefront 2,’ and even more excited to continue bringing new Star Wars experiences to you,” EA said. “Remember, every post-launch hero, map, ship, and weapon will be free for everyone who owns the game, so you and your friends can continue playing Star Wars together.”

EA also reminded fans that that they can start playing “Star Wars Battlefront 2” now by signing up for Origin Access or EA Access. Those who sign up can can joing EA’s Play First Trial program, according to Polygon. The Play First version of “Battlefront 2” will let gamers play the first section of the single player campaign of “Battlefront 2.”

Those who per-ordered the Deluxe Edition of “Battlefront 2” will also be able to play early starting on Nov. 14. “Star Wars Battlefront 2” will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC worldwide on Nov. 17.
