This week's barrage of earnings releases offers further guidance on the health of U.S. companies.

Investors will hear from Amazon, Qualcomm, AT&T, Sprint Nextel, Eli Lilly, Bristol-Myers Squibb, United Parcel Service, Ford, Yum Brands, Starbucks, Exxon Mobil, Chevron and 3M.

Of the 82 companies that have reported so far, 72 percent have topped analysts' expectations and 43.9 percent have beaten revenue forecasts, according to Thomson Reuters data. Earnings for S&P 500 components are expected to have risen 1.9 percent in the first quarter from a year ago, up from the 1.5 percent estimate at the start of the month.

We ran a screen and produced a list of 83 top companies set to report earnings April 22-26. We've highlighted expected reporting dates and times, along with analysts' earnings-per-share and revenue estimates from Reuters, as well as the stocks' year-to-date performances.

Wednesday BMO:

Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: ATI) is a diversified specialty metals producer. The company has a market cap of $2.94 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of 17 cents on revenue of $1.18 billion, compared with a profit of 50 cents a share on revenue of $1.35 billion in the year-ago period. Allegheny Technologies is trading at around $27.35 a share. So far this year, the stock has lost 9.9 percent.

Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. (NYSE: DPS) is an integrated brand owner, manufacturer and distributor of non-alcoholic beverages. The company has a market capitalization of $9.59 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of 46 cents on revenue of $1.39 billion, compared with a profit of 46 cents a share on revenue of $1.36 billion in the year-ago period. Dr Pepper Snapple Group is trading at around $47.11 a share. So far this year, the stock has gained 6.6 percent.

EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) and its subsidiaries develops, delivers and supports the information technology industry's range of information infrastructure and virtual infrastructure technologies, solutions and services. The company has a market capitalization of $47.01 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of 40 cents on revenue of $5.42 billion, compared with a profit of 37 cents a share on revenue of $5.09 billion in the year-ago period. EMC is trading at around $22.34 a share. So far this year, the stock has lost 11.7 percent.

General Dynamics Corp. (NYSE:GD) is an aerospace and defense company. The company has a market cap of $23.32 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of $1.50 on revenue of $7.55 billion, compared with a profit of $1.57 a share on revenue of $7.58 billion in the year-ago period. General Dynamics is trading at around $65.99 a share. So far this year, the stock has lost 4.7 percent.

Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) is a global, technology-based corporation. The company has a market capitalization of $19.23 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of 24 cents on revenue of $1.96 billion, compared with a profit of 30 cents a share on revenue of $1.92 billion in the year-ago period. Corning is trading at around $13.06 a share. So far this year, the stock has gained 3.5 percent.

Hess Corp. (NYSE: HES) is a global integrated energy company engaged in the exploration for and the production of crude oil and natural gas, the refining of crude oil and the sale of refined products, natural gas and electricity. The company has a market capitalization of $22.89 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of $1.59 on revenue of $9.33 billion, compared with a profit of $1.50 a share on revenue of $9.75 billion in the year-ago period. Hess Corp. is trading at around $67.02 a share. So far this year, the stock has gained 26.6 percent.

Eli Lilly & Co. (NYSE: LLY) discovers, develops, manufactures, and sells pharmaceutical products. The company has a market capitalization of $63.86 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of $1.05 on revenue of $5.66 billion, compared with a profit of 92 cents a share on revenue of $6.60 billion in the year-ago period. Eli Lilly is trading at around $56.29 a share. So far this year, the stock has gained 14.1 percent.

Lorillard Inc. (NYSE: LO) is the manufacturer of cigarettes in the U.S. The company has a market capitalization of $15.50 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of 64 cents on revenue of $1.11 billion, compared with a profit of 58 cents a share on revenue of $1.06 billion in the year-ago period. Lorillard is trading at around $40.87 a share. So far this year, the stock has gained 5.1 percent.

Motorola Solutions Inc. (NYSE:MSI) provides mission-critical communication infrastructure, devices, software, and services. The company has a market cap of $16.88 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of 66 cents on revenue of $2.05 billion, compared with a profit of 59 cents a share on revenue of $1.96 billion in the year-ago period. Motorola Solutions is trading at around $61.15 a share. So far this year, the stock has gained 9.8 percent.

The Procter & Gamble Co. (NYSE:PG) is focused on providing consumer packaged goods. The company has a market cap of $218.18 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 third-quarter EPS of 96 cents a share on revenue of $20.74 billion, compared with a profit of 94 cents a share on revenue of $20.19 billion in the year-ago period. P&G is trading at around $79.87 a share. So far this year, the stock has gained 17.7 percent.

Praxair, Inc. (NYSE:PX) is an industrial gases supplier. The company has a market capitalization of $32.52 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of $1.38 on revenue of $2.84 billion, compared with a profit of $1.38 a share on revenue of $2.89 billion in the year-ago period. Praxair is trading at around $109.78 a share. So far this year, the stock has gained 0.3 percent.

Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE: S) is a communications company offering a range of wireless and wireline communications products and services. The company has a market capitalization of $21.65 billion. It is expected to report a loss of 32 cents in the first quarter of fiscal year 2013 on revenue of $8.71 billion, compared with a smaller loss of 29 cents a share on revenue of $8.73 billion in the year-ago period. Sprint Nextel is trading at around $7.19 a share. So far this year, the stock has gained 26.8 percent.

The Southern Company (NYSE: SO) is one of America's largest generators of electricity. The company has a market capitalization of $41.60 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of 49 cents on revenue of $4.75 billion, compared with a profit of 42 cents a share on revenue of $3.60 billion in the year-ago period. The Southern Company is trading at around $47.87 a share. So far this year, the stock has gained 11.8 percent.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (NYSE: TMO) is engaged in serving science. The company has a market capitalization of $28.62 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of $1.29 on revenue of $3.17 billion, compared with a profit of $1.17 a share on revenue of $3.10 billion in the year-ago period. Thermo Fisher Scientific is trading at around $80.08 a share. So far this year, the stock has gained 25.6 percent.

WellPoint, Inc. (NYSE: WLP) is a health benefit company. The company has a market capitalization of $20.43 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of $2.38 on revenue of $18.02 billion, compared with a profit of $2.34 a share on revenue of $15.15 billion in the year-ago period. WellPoint is trading at around $67.18 a share. So far this year, the stock has gained 10.3 percent.

Wednesday AMC:

Aflac Inc. (NYSE: AFL) provides supplemental health and life insurance. The company has a market capitalization of $22.87 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of $1.62 on revenue of $6.14 billion, compared with a profit of $1.74 a share on revenue of $6.24 billion in the year-ago period. Aflac is trading at around $48.90 a share. So far this year, the stock has lost 7.9 percent.

Akamai Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM) provides content delivery and cloud infrastructure services for the delivery of content and applications over the Internet. The company has a market capitalization of $6.00 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of 46 cents on revenue of $357.59 million, compared with a profit of 36 cents a share on revenue of $319.45 million in the year-ago period. Crown Castle International Corp. (NYSE: CCI) provides infrastructure for broadcasting and mobile telephony. The company has a market capitalization of $21.80 billion. Cliffs Natural Resources Inc (NYSE: CLF) is an international mining and natural resources company. The company has a market capitalization of $2.50 billion. LSI Corporation (NYSE: LSI) designs, develops and markets storage and networking semiconductors. The company has a market capitalization of $3.35 billion. AmerisourceBergen Corp. (NYSE: ABC) operates as a pharmaceutical service company. The company has a market capitalization of $15.70 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 88 cents on revenue of $21.33 billion, compared with a profit of 81 cents a share on revenue of $20.07 billion in the year-ago period. Boston Scientific Corporation (NYSE: BSX) is a developer, manufacturer and marketer of medical devices that are used in a range of interventional medical specialties. Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc (NYSE: CCE) markets, produces, and distributes nonalcoholic beverages. The company has a market capitalization of $10.21 billion. International Game Technology (NYSE: IGT) markets an array of gaming product lines and targets gaming markets worldwide. The company has a market capitalization of $4.21 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 30 cents on revenue of $572.90 million, compared with a profit of 27 cents a share on revenue of $541.20 million in the year-ago period. International Game Technology is trading at around $15.93 a share. So far this year, the stock has gained 12.4 percent.
