Earnings Preview: Pandora Media (P), Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), Home Depot (HD), JC Penney (JCP), Best Buy (BBY)

Even as the earnings season wanes, investors will still hear from a number of major retailers in the coming week.

Overall, 462 companies have reported earnings to date for the second quarter. Among them, 66 percent have reported earnings above analyst expectations, according to data from Zacks. Revenues for these companies are up by 2 percent, with a revenue-beating portion of 52.8 percent.

Estimates for third-quarter earnings growth dropped to 2.3 percent from 4 percent three weeks ago. But expectations for the second half of the year still represent a growth ramp up from the first half’s level.

We ran a screen and produced a list of 31 notable companies set to report their earnings Aug. 19-23. We have highlighted their expected reporting dates and times, along with analysts’ earnings-per-share (fully reported) and revenue estimates from Reuters, as well as the stocks’ year-to-date performances.

Monday After Markets Close, or AMC:                                                         

Urban Outfitters Inc. (NASDAQ:URBN) is a lifestyle specialty retail company. The company has a market capitalization of $6.13 billion. It is expected to report FY 2014 second-quarter EPS of 48 cents on revenue of $768.35 million, compared with EPS of 42 cents on revenue of $676.27 million in the year-ago period. Urban Outfitters Inc. is trading at around $41.77 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 6.1 percent.

Tuesday Before Markets Open, or BMO:

J.C. Penney Company Inc. (NYSE:JCP) is a retailer. The company has a market capitalization of $2.79 billion. It is expected to report a loss of $1.15 a share on revenue of $2.79 billion in the second quarter of fiscal year 2013, compared with a loss of 67 cents a share on revenue of $3.02 billion in the year-ago period. J.C. Penney Co. Inc. is trading at around $12.68 per share. So far this year, the stock has lost 35.7 percent.

Saks Inc. (NYSE:SKS) is a department store retailer. The company has a market capitalization of $2.41 billion. It is expected to report a loss of 8 cents a share on revenue of $733.18 million in the second quarter of fiscal year 2013, compared with a loss of 8 cents a share on revenue of $704.12 million in the year-ago period. Saks Inc. is trading at around $16.06 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 52.8 percent.

Barnes & Noble Inc. (NYSE: BKS) is a bookseller. The company has a market capitalization of $1.07 billion. It is expected to report a loss of 81 cents a share on revenue of $1.32 billion in the first quarter of fiscal year 2014, compared with a loss of 78 cents a share on revenue of $1.45 billion in the year-ago period. Barnes & Noble Inc. is trading at around $17.92 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 18.8 percent.

Best Buy Co. Inc. (NYSE:BBY) is a multinational retailer of consumer electronics, computing and mobile phone products, entertainment products, appliances and related services. The company has a market capitalization of $10.46 billion. It is expected to report a full-year EPS of $1.81 on revenue of $42.75 billion, compared with a loss of 73 cents a share on revenue of $44.5 billion in fiscal year 2013. Best Buy Co. Inc. is trading at around $30.81 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 118.2 percent.

The Home Depot Inc. (NYSE:HD) is a home improvement retailer. The company has a market capitalization of $109.76 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of $1.21 on revenue of $21.75 billion, compared with EPS of $1.01 on revenue of $20.57 billion in the year-ago period. The Home Depot Inc. is trading at around $75.14 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 21.5 percent.

Medtronic Inc. (NYSE: MDT) is engaged in medical technology. The company has a market capitalization of $54.73 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 first-quarter EPS of 89 cents on revenue of $4.11 billion, compared with EPS of 83 cents on revenue of $4.01 billion in the year-ago period. Medtronic Inc. is trading at around $54.33 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 32.5 percent.

The TJX Companies Inc. (NYSE: TJX) is an off-price apparel and home fashions retailer in the U.S. and worldwide. The company has a market capitalization of $36.54 billion. It is expected to report FY 2014 second-quarter EPS of 63 cents on revenue of $6.38 billion, compared with EPS of 56 cents on revenue of $5.95 billion in the year-ago period. The TJX Companies Inc. is trading at around $50.77 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 19.6 percent.

Tuesday AMC:

Analog Devices Inc. (NASDAQ:ADI) is engaged in the design, manufacture and marketing of a range of analog, mixed-signal and digital signal processing integrated circuits. The company has a market capitalization of $22.93 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 third-quarter EPS of 54 cents on revenue of $671.70 million, compared with EPS of 56 cents on revenue of $683.03 million in the year-ago period. Analog Devices Inc. is trading at around $47.83 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 13.7 percent.

Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) is a provider of business and financial management solutions for small businesses, consumers, accounting professionals and financial institutions. The company has a market capitalization of $24.02 billion. It is expected to report a loss of 10 cents a share in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2013 on revenue of $663.92 million, compared with a profit of 1 cent a share on revenue of $651.00 million in the year-ago period. Intuit Inc. is trading at around $63.83 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 7.3 percent.

Wednesday BMO:

American Eagle Outfitters (NYSE:AEO) is a specialty retailer. The company has a market capitalization of $3.21 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 14 cents on revenue of $719.25 million, compared with EPS of 9 cents on revenue of $739.68 million in the year-ago period. American Eagle Outfitters is trading at around $16.54 per share. So far this year, the stock has lost 19.4 percent.

Lowe's Companies Inc. (NYSE:LOW) is a home improvement retailer. The company has a market capitalization of $47.71 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 79 cents on revenue of $15.05 billion, compared with EPS of 64 cents on revenue of $14.25 billion in the year-ago period. Lowe's Companies Inc. is trading at around $43.85 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 23.5 percent.

Staples Inc. (NASDAQ:SPLS) is an office products company. The company has a market capitalization of $11.11 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 18 cents on revenue of $5.38 billion, compared with EPS of 18 cents on revenue of $5.50 billion in the year-ago period. Staples Inc. is trading at around $16.73 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 46.8 percent.

Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) is an American retailing company. The company has a market capitalization of $44.30 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 97 cents on revenue of $17.30 billion, compared with EPS of $1.06 on revenue of $16.78 billion in the year-ago period. Target Corporation is trading at around $69.08 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 16.8 percent.

Toll Brothers Inc (NYSE:TOL) designs, builds, markets and arranges financing for single-family detached and attached homes in luxury residential communities. The company has a market capitalization of $5.58 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 third-quarter EPS of 26 cents on revenue of $696.12 million, compared with EPS of 36 cents on revenue of $554.32 million in the year-ago period. Toll Brothers Inc. is trading at around $32.96 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 2.0 percent.

Wednesday AMC:

Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) is an American multinational information technology corporation. The company has a market capitalization of $50.78 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 third-quarter EPS of 62 cents on revenue of $27.29 billion, compared with a loss of $4.49 a share on revenue of $29.67 billion in the year-ago period. Hewlett-Packard Company is trading at around $26.32 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 85.1 percent.

L Brands Inc (NYSE:LTD), formerly Limited Brands Inc., operates in the specialty retail business. The company has a market capitalization of $17.21 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 59 cents on revenue of $2.51 billion, compared with EPS of 49 cents on revenue of $2.40 billion in the year-ago period. L Brands Inc. is trading at around $59.64 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 26.9 percent.

Thursday BMO:

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (NYSE:ANF) is a specialty retailer of casual apparel for men, women and kids. The company has a market capitalization of $3.84 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 31 cents on revenue of $1.00 billion, compared with EPS of 20 cents on revenue of $951.41 million in the year-ago period. Abercrombie & Fitch Co. is trading at around $49.14 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 2.4 percent.

GameStop Corp. (NYSE:GME) is a multichannel video game retailer. The company has a market capitalization of $5.76 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 5 cents on revenue of $1.35 billion, compared with EPS of 16 cents on revenue of $1.55 billion in the year-ago period. GameStop Corp. is trading at around $48.40 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 92.6 percent.

Ross Stores Inc. (NASDAQ:ROST) operates two brands of off-price retail apparel and home fashion stores. The company has a market capitalization of $14.25 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 93 cents on revenue of $2.52 billion, compared with EPS of 81 cents on revenue of $2.34 billion in the year-ago period. Ross Stores Inc. is trading at around $65.16 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 20.5 percent.

Sears Holdings Corp (NASDAQ:SHLD) is an American multinational corporation headquartered in Hoffman Estates, Ill. The company was founded in 2005 by the merger of Sears and Kmart. The company has a market capitalization of $4.50 billion. It is expected to report a loss of $1.25 a share on revenue of $9.01 billion in the second quarter of fiscal year 2013, compared with a loss of $1.25 a share on revenue of $9.47 billion in the year-ago period. Sears Holdings Corp is trading at around $42.31 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 2.3 percent.

The Buckle Inc. (NYSE:BKE) is a retailer of casual apparel, footwear, and accessories for men and women. The company has a market capitalization of $2.59 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 52 cents on revenue of $231.52 million, compared with EPS of 49 cents on revenue of $215.48 million in the year-ago period. The Buckle Inc. is trading at around $53.50 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 19.9 percent.

Dollar Tree Inc. (NASDAQ:DLTR) is an operator of discount variety stores offering merchandise at the fixed price. The company has a market capitalization of $11.39 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 57 cents on revenue of $1.86 billion, compared with EPS of 51 cents on revenue of $1.71 billion in the year-ago period. Dollar Tree Inc. is trading at around $50.88 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 25.5 percent.

Thursday AMC:

Pandora Media Inc. (NYSE:P) is an Internet radio in the U.S. The company has a market capitalization of $3.68 billion. It is expected to report a loss of 3 cents a share on revenue of $156.24 million in the second quarter of fiscal year 2014, compared with a loss of 3 cents a share on revenue of $101.27 million in the year-ago period. Pandora Media Inc. is trading at around $21.06 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 129.4 percent.

Aeropostale Inc. (NYSE:ARO) is a mall-based, specialty retailer of casual apparel and accessories. The company has a market capitalization of $979.70 million. It is expected to report a loss of 25 cents a share on revenue of $453.97 million in the second quarter of fiscal year 2013, compared with a profit of 0 cent a share on revenue of $485.34 million in the year-ago period. Aeropostale Inc. is trading at around $12.48 per share. So far this year, the stock has lost 3.9 percent.

Aruba Networks Inc. (NASDAQ:ARUN) is a provider of next-generation network access solutions for mobile enterprise networks. The company has a market capitalization of $18.49 million. It is expected to report a loss of 9 cents a share on revenue of $149.33 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2013, compared with a loss of 3 cents a share on revenue of $139.25 million in the year-ago period. Aruba Networks Inc. is trading at around $18.48 per share. So far this year, the stock has lost 11.0 percent.

Autodesk Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSK) designs software and services company. The company has a market capitalization of $8.03 billion. It is expected to report FY 2014 second-quarter EPS of 24 cents on revenue of $560.78 million, compared with EPS of 28 cents on revenue of $568.70 billion in the year-ago period. Autodesk Inc. is trading at around $35.76 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 1.1 percent.

The Gap Inc. (NYSE:GPS) is a global specialty apparel company. The company has a market capitalization of $8.03 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 61 cents on revenue of $3.83 billion, compared with EPS of 49 cents on revenue of $3.58 billion in the year-ago period. The Gap Inc. is trading at around $43.50 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 40.3 percent.

Marvell Technology Group Ltd. (NASDAQ:MRVL) is a fabless semiconductor provider of application-specific standard products. The company has a market capitalization of $6.64 billion. It is expected to report FY 2014 second-quarter EPS of 9 cents on revenue of $790.53 million, compared with EPS of 16 cents on revenue of $816.10 million in the year-ago period. Marvell Technology Group Ltd. is trading at around $13.05 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 79.8 percent.

Friday BMO:

Foot Locker Inc. (NYSE:FL) is a global retailer of athletic shoes and apparel. The company has a market capitalization of $5.24 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 48 cents on revenue of $1.46 billion, compared with EPS of 39 cents on revenue of $1.37 billion in the year-ago period. Foot Locker Inc. is trading at around $34.68 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 8.1 percent.
