Once again European banks return to park more funds at the European Central Bank overnight deposit facility, where the deposits reached the second-highest recorded ever on Friday, reflecting adequate liquidity in the euro-area region.

Banks parked 511.689 billion euros on Friday at the Facility, compared with the 488.689 billion deposited on Thursday. The amount of funds deposited at the ECB widened sharply since the ECB provided European banks with unlimited 3-year loans in order to shield the banking sector from any liquidity shocks.

On Friday, European banks also borrowed around 2.8 billion euros from the facility, up from around 1.55 billion euros recorded Thursday.
