Echometrix, Inc. announced today that its Board of Directors has approved a name change to Protext Mobility, Inc. The Board for the provider of online and mobile family safety technology feels that the name change better reflects its overall corporate direction and will help gain exposure and traction within the industry.

As part of the new re-branding effort, a ticker change is also anticipated in the near future, although no specific dates were provided for any of the upcoming changes other than “in early 2011.” Over the last year, Chief Operating Officer of Echometrix, Peter Charles, stated in the press release that the Company “has been building our core competency in the mobile data segment.”

Echometrix, Inc. is a software development company that maintains core technology that analyzes digital data streams. Through FamilySafe, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary, the Company operates FamilySafe Parental Controls. These software solutions are intended to protect children from dangers on the Internet and the world of mobile texting with the Echometrix products engineered to monitor, block and alert parents the moment a child encounters inappropriate material from any Internet or mobile related source.

The technology is used by several organizations, including the widely-publicized AmberWatch Foundation which uses the Echometrix technology to power its AmberWatch SafeText. With its mission “To provide educational programs and innovative technologies that proactively and preemptively protect children against abduction, predators and the dangers of the digital world,” AmberWatch SafeText allows parents to monitor all text activity of their children.

Technically speaking, the EHMI chart has seen a nice rise this month after hitting a low just above five cents. A sharp rise happened in the first week of December which sent the price climbing quickly to a dime where it has been struggling to push through for a little over two weeks with a pretty solid channel being established between 8 and 10 cents at this point. With the Holidays upon us, volume may be lower than normal, but it appears that the price per share is going to continue to test both the upper and lower limits of the channel. Traders will be looking to see how this new name, impending ticker change and re-branding of the Company impacts the chart and share price early in the New Year.
