FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Euro Area's economic sentiment has remained flat in May instead of decreasing mildly, as market analysts had advanced, while it declined in the European Union dragged by weaker confidence in the manufacturing, and construction sectors.

In the Euro Area, the economic sentiment indicator has remained at 97.1 in May, while it decreased 1.3 points in the European Union to 96.7in both regions, the economic sentiment index remains below the average levels.

Down to countries, most of them posted losses in the economic sentiment with the exception of Italy, which recorded a 3 points increase, and the 0.2 points increase posted in Germany. UK posted a 5.2 decline, and France lost 3.3 points.
