RTTNews - Friday, French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde said the economy does not enter into deflation and the temporary decline in prices would support consumption given the rise in unemployment.

Lagarde was commenting on the latest inflation figures released by the statistical office INSEE earlier in the day. According to the agency, consumer prices fell 0.3% year-on-year in May.

She said the recent declines in consumer prices reflect decreases in oil prices since the summer of 2008.
