Renowned “Fight Club” actor Edward Norton was investigated after an alleged altercation this week with a paparazzo in New York City.

The New York Police Department probed claims made by photographer Alain Becerra-Calderon, who alleges that he suffered a “tissue contusion” to his finger when Norton shoved his camera away, the New York Post reports.

The incident occurred around noon on Tuesday, when Becerra-Calderon approached Norton with a cell phone camera on a midtown Manhattan street.

“I got a quick question: ‘People say you look like me. Is that true?’” Becerra-Calderon asked Norton, according to the New York Post.

Norton reacted angrily, asking “Why are you stalking me?,” before shoving the paparazzo’s camera out of his face.

The physical confrontation prompted Becerra-Calderon to check into Beth Israel Hospital, where he was treated for a “tissue contusion” on his middle finger, the New York Post reports. He also filed harassment charges against Norton with the NYPD.

"He went to the hospital claiming hand pain. … It was classified as harassment," an NYPD spokesperson told E! News.

Police investigators have already ruled out criminal charges for Norton, citing a lack of witnesses to the altercation, E! News reports. Becerra-Calderon has yet to declare if he will pursue a civil suit against the 43-year-old actor, telling the New York Post that he’s “discussing that with [his] attorney.”

“[Norton] needs to learn to control his temper. ... I asked if I could ask a question, and he grabbed my phone,” the photographer told the New York Post. He added that the incident was “very, very scary.”

Norton’s representatives have yet to comment on the situation.
