One company that is becoming a leader in the bottled water industry is Eldorado Artesian Springs, Inc. Located in Louisville, Colorado, Eldorado Artesian Springs, Inc. is a leading marketer and distributor of natural spring water in the Rocky Mountains and has a portfolio that includes the nation’s only Organic Vitamin Charged Spring Water. Today, Eldorado Artesian Springs announced that they are the first company to use 100% recycled plastic in its bottles.

Recycled plastic, or RPET, is made from plastic that was previously used as packaging, then recycled and processed to create new bottles. The process, which is known as “upcycling”, helps to divert reusable material out of the waste system to make for a “Greener” environment.

Eldorado’s Natural Spring Water will be available in the new RPET bottles in Colorado beginning in August and has already received FDA approval which meets the same safety standards as virgin plastic bottles potentially making “upcycling” the wave of the future.

The utilization of RPET instead of virgin plastic will allow Eldorado to reduce the energy required to produce this new bottle by 77% and will reduce greenhouse (GHG) emissions by 58% according to the National Association for PET Container Resources (NAPCOR).

Commenting on what this evolution will mean to the future of Eldorado, Jeremy Martin who serves as the VP of Marketing was quoted as saying, “We are very excited to be the first U.S. bottled spring water company to introduce 100 percent recycled plastic bottles. Eldorado is committed to reducing its impact on the environment and continues to seek sustainability in every aspect of our business.”

Currently, Eldorado Artesian Springs is trading in the $0.45 range. With this breaking news and an already strong product line in place, this is a company to keep an eye on.
