Abducted from her bedroom in 2002, Elizabeth Smart's nine month disappearance received constant media attention and the nation was relieved when the 14-year-old was found alive.

Now Smart is in the news again as a blushing young bride. The now 24-year-old met husband Matthew Gilmour while on a religious mission in Europe. Smart married Gilmour in Hawaii at a Mormon temple in Oahu.

The two dated for a year and were engaged for just one month before walking down the aisle.

The college student has drawn on her own tragedy in order to provide support for missing children and their families. Her story of emotional recovery and happiness recalls that of other victims who have managed to find love.
