Does art imitate life, or does life imitate art? With Elon Musk, it’s getting harder to tell the difference.

The inventor of the Tesla model S has already drawn comparisons to Tony Stark, the fictional genius billionaire in the “Iron Man” movie franchise. Now, Musk is drawing from Jon Favreau’s “Iron Man” series for inspiration for his next invention.

Musk tweeted last week that his team had developed a method for designing rocket parks just by waving hands through the air, a technology used by character Tony Stark to design his Iron Man superhero suit. Musk also tweeted that he will post a video this week that demonstrates the technology.

Musk recently unveiled plans for the Hyperloop, a revolutionary new form of high-speed travel that he claims will get people from Los Angeles to San Francisco in 35 minutes. Before the Hyperloop, Musk designed the Tesla Model S, which is credited with making electric cars more appealing to consumers, and a new rocket that can fly sideways and be reused.

Favreau said that Musk inspired his depiction of Tony Stark in his “Iron Man” movies. After Musk’s latest tweet, Favreau asked if the invention would be similar to the hologram system Tony Stark uses in the movies. Musk admitted his latest invention similar was actually inspired by the movie.

For reference, here's a clip from the “Iron Man” movie of Tony Stark using a hologram and hand gestures to design his robotic “Iron Man” suit.
