Elton John married his long-time partner David Furnish Sunday after nine years of civil partnership. The ceremony, which took place at their Windsor home, west of London, was attended by several celebrities, including David Beckham and Hugh Grant.

The 67-year-old iconic musician posted live updates of the event on his Instagram account and shared the hashtag “#ShareTheLove” that later trended on Twitter. The first post on the newly opened Instagram account was an invitation card for John’s fans. John also posted photos of a room full of at least 40 guests, the event's lunch menu and fancy table settings for guests. He also posted a photo with Furnish showing the two signing marriage documents.

The couple has been together since 1993 and has two children -- Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, 4, and 23-month-old Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John. Both children were the ring-bearers for the wedding ceremony.

The event was attended by the Beckham family, comedian Jimmy Carr, singer Ed Sheeran, comedian David Walliams and his model wife Lara Stone, and several others.

John and Furnish were reportedly one of the first couples to enter a civil partnership after it was legalized in 2005. The 2005 celebration was reportedly on a much bigger scale and was attended by more than 600 guests.

"We will do it very quietly," John had reportedly said, earlier this year, about his special day. "It will be a joyous occasion and we will have our children there. Extraordinary. If you'd looked at my life five years ago and you'd have told me this was going to happen, I'd have said, 'You've put acid in my drink.'"

Here are some messages from celebrities wishing the couple on their wedding.
