Break-ups can either let a person get depressed or make them insensitive to love. But “Harry Potter” actress Emma Watson faced it chin-up during what she describes as a "horrendous" split with former boyfriend Matt Janney in December.

Janney and Watson met at Oxford University, where they both were studying. "I felt really uncomfortable, even before my relationship ended,"Watson said in a recent interview with Vogue UK, for their September issue. "I went on a silent retreat because I really wanted to figure out how to be at home with myself,” the actress added.

She also told the magazine that she went on a silence retreat in Canada's Rocky Mountains. She did not utter a single word for seven days. Though it may sound tough for anyone to undergo that kind of thing but Watson came out a better person and focused on her career and other interests.

She spearheaded her HeForShe campaign for equal rights and also became the United Nations goodwill ambassador for women's rights. "Part of me felt relaxed after I took on that position, it gave me a sense of belonging and purpose,” she said in her previous interview. The actress also won accolades for her role as Belle in Disney’s “Beauty and The Beast” and is also working with actor Tom Hanks for upcoming thriller movie, “The Circle.”

Following her split with Janney, Watson was linked to Prince Harry and One Direction singer Harry Styles but all this ended to be mere rumors. The break-up has not left Watson with a negativity in her heart. The actress cherishes the relations she had with all her ex-boyfriends. "The boyfriend or partners I've had have generally made me feel really cherished. They've built me up," she said.
