Empire Andre Rhonda
Rhonda (Caitlin Doubleday) and Andre (Trai Byers) in a scene from "Empire" Season 1, episode 10. Fox

When faced with the return of an old enemy in the last “Empire” episode, “Unto the Breach,” the Lyon family banded together to keep Empire safe. As Lucious (Terrence Howard) left to confront his competitor Billy Baretti (Judd Nelson) and Anika (Grace Gealey) for her betrayal, Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) went to work on making amends with his mother Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) and former partner Tiana (Serayah).

Jamal successfully signed the popular artist Delphine (guest star Estelle) without his dad’s intervention, but older Lyon son Andre’s mood swings swung out of control at the office, and now his health is in jeopardy as well. But it wasn’t all bad news. There’s no stopping Cookie’s #nofilters after that Twitter-famous “Take these cookies!” moment.

As the number of episodes left dwindle toward the season 1 finale of “Empire,” the stakes promise only to rise. Andre is now under the care of musical therapist Michelle (Jennifer Hudson), and in this week’s preview, it looks like may turn more than a doctor-patient relationship. An old flame and singer (Mary J. Blige) from Lucious’ past arrives that could ruffle a few of Cookie’s feathers. That is, unless Hakeem’s older girlfriend Camilla Marks (Naomi Campbell) doesn’t make Cookie lose it first.

Cookie has plans in motion of her own (surprise!), but the real shocker is the return of Jamal’s disappeared baby mama Olivia (Raven-Symoné). Perhaps to reclaim the daughter Jamal has now connected with? The “Sins of the Father” could prove to be quite an emotional episode.

New guest stars include Blige as Lucious’ old girlfriend Angie and Hudson as Michelle White. Raven-Symoné as Olivia, Campbell as Camilla, Derek Luke as Malcolm and Eka Darville as Ryan will return in “Sins of the Father.”

Episode 10 of "Empire" Season 1, “Sins of the Father,” airs on FOX on Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST. Watch the sneak peek video below:
