You can mark it on your calendar now, “Empire” fans. The Season 2 premiere date has officially been announced. Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), Lucious (Terrence Howard) and the rest of the dysfunctional Lyon family is set to return to Fox in September.

Henson slipped the news on Twitter, revealing that the official date is September 23 at 9 p.m. EDT. E! Online reports that the Cookie actress announced the news before the writers got a chance. Henson could just be as excited as the rest of us for “Empire” Season 2.

Season 2 is scheduled for 18 episodes, which will play in two parts divided by a midseason finale. “Empire” will return to reign over the 9 p.m. EDT Wednesday spot on Fox with the inclusion of more guests and more drama than Season 1 could hold.

Brace yourselves for September 23.
