Former Fox News host Eric Bolling's son died in his bed as a result of an "emotional torture" over the humiliation he was suffering after his father was fired from the news channel, TMZ reported late Sunday.

Nineteen-year-old Eric Bolling Jr. died hours after Bolling left the network Friday, but the circumstances surrounding his death remain a mystery.

According to the TMZ report, sources said Eric Jr. was "destroyed" by his dad's departure from Fox News Channel.

His father was fired from the network last month following allegations he sent pictures of his genitals to three female co-workers. Fox News officially fired him Friday.

The source told the news outlet that Eric Sr. wanted to exit earlier because he knew his son was having trouble dealing with the embarrassment caused due to his actions.

One source said Eric Jr. was found dead in his bed Friday afternoon, without any suicide note.

Some claim the death was due to some form of overdose, but the cause of death is yet to be confirmed. The coroner is conducting toxicology and other tests to determine the cause of death, TMZ reported.

“We are very saddened to hear of the passing of Eric Bolling's son,” Fox network said Saturday in a statement. “Eric Chase was a wonderful young man and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Bolling family.”

HuffPost reporter Yashar Ali was the first to break the news. He wrote on Twitter Saturday. “Very sad news, Eric Bolling’s son, who was only 19, died last night. By all accounts, Eric was incredibly devoted to his son. Heartbreaking.”

Ali said he was informed of the teenager's death from one of his 14 sources that accused Bolling of the sexting allegations last month. Following the sexting allegations, Bolling threatened to seek “legal remedies” for apparent “defamatory accusations” through his lawyer, Michael J. Bowe.

Eric Sr. confirmed the news in a Twitter post the following day. “Adrienne and I are devastated by the loss of our beloved son Eric Chase last night. Details still unclear. Thoughts, prayers appreciated,” he wrote. “Authorities have informed us there is no sign of self harm at this point. Autopsy will be next week. Please respect our grieving period.”

Eric Jr. was the only child the former Fox News host had with his wife, Adrienne.

Condolences for Bolling’s son filled Twitter on Saturday.

“@ericbolling To my dear friend, please know we all love you, will be here for you and your family,” Fox News host Sean Hannity said on Twitter.

“Just heard that Fox colleague and friend @ericbolling 19 yr. old son died; Prayers for Eric and family,” Gov. Mike Huckabee wrote.

“I am so sorry for your loss. I know how devoted you were to your son. I cannot fathom how difficult this must be,” Donald Trump Jr. tweeted.

“Overwhelmed by the news of Eric Bolling's son,” Fox contributor Katie Pavlich tweeted. “How absolutely horrific and devastating.”

“So awful. My heart goes out to Eric and his family,” CNN's Don Lemon tweeted.
