After a German newspaper released a report saying that the aid provided to Greece by the EU might be nearly 90 billion euros over a period of three years, the EU said that this was speculation. The EU so far have provided Greece with 30 billion euros in loans during this year, and might be an extra 15 billion euros provided by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) if needed. The EU has not decided on an exact amount of loans to aid Greece in 2011 and 2012 yet.

The Greek government is planning to narrow deficit from 12.9% in 2009 to 8.7% this year by reducing spending and increasing taxes.
