The euro area's current account deficit in February expanded despite the shrinking trade deficit. The current account shortfall in seasonally adjusted terms widened to 7.2 billion from 5.6 billion that was revised strongly from the reported 0.7 billion shortfall.

In non-seasonally adjusted terms the deficit actually narrowed strongly to 9.5 billion euros from a revised 20.8 billion from the originally reported 19.6 billion deficit.
