FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Retail sales have declined sharply in November in the 13 countries of the European Monetary Union, a further than expected drop which follows another important decrease in October, according to data released by Eurostat.

Total volume of sales fell by 0.5% in November from October, following a 0,7% monthly decline posted on the previous month. On the year, retail sales have dropped 1.4% after the 0.4% increase posted in October, upwardly revised from the 0.2% increase previously estimated.

November's decrease has been sharper than expected, as market analysts had advanced 0.5% decreases on the month as well as on the year.
