FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Retail sales failed to grow in December in the Euro Area for the third consecutive month in January, according to data released by Eurostat, which shows how the economic slowdown in dampening consumer spending.

From November to December, retail sales volume remained unchanged in the countries belonging to the Euro Area while the year on year performance shows a 1.6% decline.

Figures related to the previous month have been downwardly revised to a 0.1% monthly decline, and a 2.6% fall year on year, from the 0.6% monthly increase and the 1.5% year on year fall previously estimated.
