RTTNews - The Eurozone current account balance on a seasonally adjusted basis showed a deficit of EUR 5.9 billion in April, smaller than the EUR 7 billion deficit registered in March, a report from the European Central Bank showed Wednesday.

The deficit reflected EUR 8.8 billion deficits in current transfers and EUR 2.7 billion shortfall in the income account, which were only partly offset by surpluses in services and goods in April. The central bank said the surplus in goods occurred after five consecutive months of deficits.

At the same time, on an unadjusted basis, the current account deficit widened to EUR 9.2 billion in April from EUR 4 billion in March.
