The Eurozone recorded a current account deficit of EUR12.7 billion in January, on a seasonal and working day adjusted basis, larger than a deficit of EUR7.6 billion in December, a report by the European Central Bank said Tuesday.

In January, the deficit in the goods account widened to EUR2.3 billion from EUR0.1 billion in the previous month. At the same time, the surplus in the services account decreased to EUR4.6 billion from EUR4.7 billion.

The deficit in the income account narrowed to EUR4.2 billion in January from EUR4.3 billion in the previous month. However, the deficit in the current transfers account increased to EUR10.8 billion from EUR8 billion in December.

Meanwhile, the net outflow in the financial account amounted to EUR23 billion in January.
