Eurozone posts weak GDP growth in Q4; Germany meets expectations

The number of unemployed people in eurozone fell in February, after remaining unchanged in the past two months.

The unemployment rate in the 17-nation eurozone dropped 9.9 percent to 15.747 million in February from an upwardly revised rate of 10 percent in January, the Eurostat said on Friday. Markets had expected the unemployment rate to be at 9.9 percent in February.

The number of unemployed people fell by 77,000 in February in the region, while in wider 27-nation European Union (EU) region the number decreased by 99,000.

The unemployment rate for young people under the age of 25 years stood at 19.4 percent in eurozone, with Spain recording the highest rate at 43.5 percent in the region.
