The Eurozone's unemployment rate came in at 9.7%, 10 points above the reading from August (9.6%). This is the largest unemployment level since January 1999, according to the Eurostat. In the European Union (27 countries), the unemployment rate also climbed 10 points to 9.2%, the largest unemployment rate ever recorded (there are records since 2000). In September 2008, the unemployment was at7.1%.
