It looks like Emma Roberts wasn’t the only one tongue-tied while trying to woo her fiancé Evan Peters. After she admitted her awkward ways on “Chelsea Lately” in January, Roberts' fiancé and “American Horror Story: Coven” co-star has come to her defense, saying he too was at a loss for words when attempting to flirt with the adorable actress.

The duo met on the set of “Adult World” in February 2012. And according to reports, it was love at first sight. Both entertainers were completely smitten with each other — but they just didn’t know how to express it.

"I had a crush on her, too, and I didn't really know how to approach her or talk to her or any of that stuff," Peters admitted during an interview with Vulture. "And at the time I was a more introverted actor, trying to kind of stay into it and stay focused and not talk too much. But, yeah, I tried to talk to her a few times and, I don't know, I kept saying the wrong thing. I was really kind of awkward and stupid and like, 'Oh God, this is just not working out well. I'm just going to shut up and not talk.'"

Wait, Peters looking stupid? That’s hard to imagine! Even when the knee-weakening actor played the role of a mass murderer in season 1 of "American Horror Story," he had us clutching our hearts every time his lovable face appeared on the FX series.

"I would just try to make jokes, you know? But they weren't going over very well," the “X-Men: Days of Future Past” actor explained. "You know how when you like somebody and then you say things, kind of like a fifth-grader? You like the person, so you kind of tease them a little bit or you joke around a little bit? Emma didn't get that I was joking, so it just kind of came off all wrong."

But even after Peters figuratively pulled his future wife’s pigtails, the two ended up changing their relationship statuses from single to engaged. In January, Roberts was seen sporting a pink, gold diamond ring on her left hand, which made watching the couple act on TV even more entertaining— especially since Peters ended up killing her!

What did he have to say about choking his fiancé to death on “American Horror Story”? Well, according to Peters, it was kind of fun! "It was like me and Emma were in an acting class, doing a scene. We were both so gung-ho about it and ready to get into it. It was almost kinda fun,” he said. “We were feeding off each other. On my close-up, she's like, 'Ow, too hard, too hard. You're getting too into it.' I was like, 'Oh, sorry, sorry, sorry, babe. I didn't mean to.'"

And while Peters found it pretty easy to kill his fiancé, he had a bit of a problem participating in a threesome with her and co-star Taissa Farmiga. "The threesome scene was probably the most awkward, just because it was ... bizarre. Super weird. But the way we did it was pretty tasteful. It calmed down a little bit from what it was. We just didn't want to — we wanted it to be tasteful, if that could be tasteful in any way," Peters said. "Because Emma and I are dating and then poor Taissa's there and we had to get together and do this thing and it's weird."

Weird — but totally believable.
