The battle of the bloodlines of officially over and that means the stars of MTV’s “The Challenge” are onto their next adventure. Wednesday, following the season finale of “The Challenge: Battle of the Bloodlines,” the network revealed the title of the next installment during the reunion special. While viewers have been clued in to “Rivals III” being the next season’s theme, little is know about the 2016 installment. Below is everything we know about “The Challenge: Rivals III” so far:

TJ Is Back

Little is revealed about “Rivals 3” in the teaser trailer but it’s clear host TJ Lavin will be back. While the athlete is not shown, his voice can be heard revealing the season’s theme.

“You’re all here for a reason,” he explains to the cast in the promo video. “Whether you’ve pissed someone off or you’ve done someone wrong. No matter the reason, I guarantee, you don’t like someone here.”

Fresh Twist

TJ announces in the promo that this season will pair up male and female rivals. He also hints that the couples may not be what viewers are expecting. “It’s not the rivals that you’re used to,” TJ says.

“For the first time, same-sex solidarity is out the window, and man-woman antagonists will fight for first-place. So long, gender divide,” MTV said in a “Rivals 3” announcement. “While we can’t say much, trust this: The next crop of opposite-sex teams is going to bring the fireworks.”

Argentina Finals

This season of “The Challenge” will take place in Mexico but it is clear some part of the show, possibly the finals, was filmed in Argentina. In December, a helicopter subcontracted by MTV and Bunim/Murray Productions for “The Challenge” crashed in Argentina, People reported. It was later confirmed that the plane went down en route to a filming spot in Mendoza. The pilot and a passenger died in the crash, but none of the show’s cast members were on board.

Premiere Date

MTV is making fans wait for the official premiere date of “Rivals 3.” Right now, it’s only been announced that the highly anticipated installment will kick off in May. It’s possible the show will start after MTV’s new season of “Real World” concludes. “Real World: Go Big or Big Home” premieres March 17.

Who Will Be Back?

It will come as no surprise to “Challenge” viewers that MTV has not yet announced the contestants for “Rivals 3.” However, several stars of the series hinted that may be back for future seasons during the “Bloodlines” reunion taping in New York City Jan. 21. Jenna Compono, a third-place “Bloodlines” champion, told International Business Times she already had a competition strategy planned for a possible comeback.
